At WilMa we are very keen on putting high quality products online, so we take great care of the testing phase before the release. To learn more you can read the article about our processes (link to Testing process on Wilma), in this post we will focus on cross-browser testing, especially testing on Apple devices.
For cross-browser testing we use Browserstack, a popular tool that allows us to run live tests on real devices. It works great but on Apple operating systems It’s very common to find errors that are not reproducible on real devices.
This happens because typically on our physical devices all applications, including the browser, are updated periodically. While on browserstack the browser version is locked to the one that was originally launched with the operating system with the exception of a few security patches.
On desktop, we have the option to choose a different version of almost any browser, but not Safari.
For this reason on Browserstack we use Safari on a much older version
